Sydenham Field Naturalists [Winner]
We are a registered, non-profit organization whose members aim to enjoy, as well as preserve wildlife and natural history, primarily in the Chatham-Kent area. We are the nature group for all of Chatham-Kent and we provide the opportunity for nature interested people to gather and share experiences together. Our club provides financial support to partner groups and our own club projects.
Sydenham Field Naturalists has a record of ecological protection going back its entire thirty-five years, conserving significant natural areas in the region. SFN, along with Lambton Wildlife and Ontario Nature, was instrumental in the fundraising and 2016 successful purchase of a spectacular 193-acre property now named the Sydenham River Nature Reserve. We are also stewards of three local nature properties for all to enjoy.
We offer a winning package – education, physical activity, habitat preservation and restoration while having fun all at the same time.
Rottier Excavating
Rottier Excavating is a family owned and operated company established in 2018. With over 12 years of experience in construction, focused on excavating and ground works, we offer knowledgeable experience in a variety of services. We aim to please and will work with our customers to help meet their individual goals. We have hired young, local adults looking to enter the construction or heavy equipment operator field that have had little to no experience. From there we have taught them everything from how to properly use a shovel to how to run heavy equipment. We have also been able to do some pro-bono work within the community and help some lower income families in the community with crucial work to their residence at either a discounted rate or for free. We have supported the community by buying the majority of our supplies within the community. A lot of the work we do at Rottier Excavating is in the Wallaceburg and surrounding area. When COVID-19 shut everything down in the community, we wanted to give back and do something that would brighten up everyone’s day. That is why we partnered with All Seasons Nursery in Wallaceburg to donate the time to make the Civic Square Park (Fountain Park) look beautiful. That is a spot that every resident in Wallaceburg will see at some time during the week. We had a lot of positive comments within the community about how we reached our goal, to brighten their day.
